Leipzig-based start-up Prodlane GmbH is entering its next growth phase with MAIA: TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and SBG - Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH are expanding their commitment with follow-on funding.

MAIA brings artificial intelligence to where a company's technical knowledge actually resides. The valuable know-how of technical companies grows over years, yet remains scattered across countless documents and systems. MAIA’s AI software consolidates this knowledge, making it available to employees in seconds while ensuring full data protection compliance. Time-consuming research is replaced by reliable decisions and precise, traceable answers. Accumulated knowledge is finally keeping pace with the speed of modern corporate work.

Leipzig, [July 21, 2026]. Less than two years after their initial joint investment, TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen is increasing its commitment to MAIA (Prodlane GmbH) and leading the current round. The reason: the knowledge accumulated by technical companies over years is immensely valuable, yet barely accessible in day-to-day operations. In industrial companies, critical knowledge is buried in thousands of product manuals, design documents, user guides, testing and validation reports, data sheets, standards, and project reports—spread across numerous systems and therefore difficult to reach. It is not just vast; it is highly complex and profound. This is exactly what MAIA is tailored for. MAIA unlocks these archives, captures technically demanding relationships, and becomes a sparring partner for specialists solving complex tasks. Instead of tedious manual work, teams in development, engineering, and maintenance can reach reliable decisions faster—especially where the skills shortage and pressure to innovate collide most sharply.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools, MAIA is built for complex technical knowledge and understands it in its full depth. MAIA does not analyze documents superficially; it captures their structure, metadata, and context. A bill of materials is read differently than a test instruction; complex tables and technical drawings are understood, and connections between documents become visible across system boundaries.

Where decisions must be defensible, reliability is key. Every answer is verified against its sources through a multi-stage process. MAIA transparently shows what can be relied upon, what is an inference, and where sources contradict each other. For particularly demanding questions, MAIA combines several specialized solution paths and selects the best answer. The goal: answers at the level of the most experienced expert in the company.

Using knowledge efficiently: a key challenge

"Every company has people who have known every project, every deviation, and every workaround for decades. When these people leave, the knowledge goes with them. MAIA doesn't replace this experience; it makes it explicit bit by bit and available to the entire team. We want to change how companies work with their knowledge: moving away from lengthy research and the inertia of established structures toward knowledge that is available at the right moment," explains Carolin Maier, CEO & Co-Founder of MAIA.

Strong investor network for further growth

The round is once again led by TGFS. Joining for the first time is SBG - Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH as part of the Innovationskapital Sachsen (RIG) program. With this capital, MAIA is expanding its team in development, sales, and marketing, and driving further growth across the DACH region. "The DACH region is under enormous pressure to innovate and compete, while at the same time, there is a shortage of skilled workers everywhere. To succeed here, companies must finally use their existing knowledge consistently. That is exactly what MAIA enables, with a clear focus and high-quality answers. That is why we are investing again and supporting the company in its next growth phase," says Sören Schuster, Managing Director of TGFS. Using complex retrieval approaches and domain-specific agent systems, the data-compliant AI assistant MAIA combines the efficiency boost of the latest AI with the values of the DACH region: highest quality, reliability, and traceability. This creates not only an efficiency gain but also room for innovation.
